Put AI to work in your team's inbox.

Sortd is the shared inbox your team already runs on Gmail — now open to your AI agents. Your team works the board, your agent works the API, and nothing ships without the permissions you set.

[ THE POSITION ]

Agent infrastructure gives AI its own inboxes.
We give it yours — with your team in control.

[ COMPOSABILITY ]

Your agent connects everything.

Your agent composes Sortd's MCP with every other MCP it already has — in one session. We didn't build these integrations, and we don't have to maintain them: your agent brings them.

[ WATCH IT WORK ]

One email, handled together.

Sortd Agent triages the shared inbox, classifies, sets status, assigns Maya with a deadline and drafts the reply. Maya reviews and sends. Alex invoices. Nobody left Gmail.

[ TWO INTERFACES · ONE WORKSPACE ]

An API/MCP that ships with a native Gmail interface.

This is the part nobody else has. Agent platforms make you build a supervision UI; helpdesk tools make your team leave Gmail. Sortd is one workspace with two front doors: your agents call the API, your team works the same threads natively inside Gmail — desktop and mobile. Same data, same statuses, same audit trail. That's why it actually gets adopted.

  "assignee": "maya", "deadline": "2026-07-19",
  "fields": { "order_id": "4482", "type": "refund_request" },
  "draft": { "state": "awaiting_approval" } }
The exact same card, as structured JSON. Read it, update it, draft against it — via REST or MCP, with graduated scopes.
[ NEW CONSTRUCTS FOR EMAIL ]

Email has no owner, no deadline, no status.
Sortd gives it all three — and more.

Email was designed in 1971 for messages between two people. It has no construct for "who owns this", "when is it due", "where is it in our process", or "hand this to Maya with context". Teams fake it with forwards, labels and CCs — and agents can't work with that at all. Sortd adds the missing layer: every thread becomes a structured object both humans and agents can operate on.

ASSIGNMENT

Every thread has one owner

Not "whoever saw it first". Agents route by content; the team sees who's accountable, in Gmail.

DEADLINES & SLAs

Every thread has a clock

Due dates, follow-up timers and SLA rules on email itself. Nothing rots unread; escalation is automatic.

STATUS & PROCESS

Every thread has a stage

Open → Working on → Waiting for approval → Done. Your process, as board columns both interfaces share.

CUSTOM PROPERTIES

Every thread carries data

order_id, refund_policy, deal_size — typed fields agents read, write and classify into. Fields API →

HANDOFFS

Work moves with its context

Agent → human → agent, with notes, history and next steps attached. No forwarding, no "see below".

CRM & CONTACTS

Every sender has a record

Contacts, companies, pipelines and history — the context agents ground their drafts in.

→ these are API objects, not UI decorations: tasks · boards · custom-fields · contacts · email-threads — see the full reference
[ SETUP ]

Live in minutes, not sprints.

Giving an agent safe Gmail access yourself means a Google Cloud project, OAuth consent screens, restricted-scope verification (a CASA security audit), token refresh plumbing and months of review. Sortd already carries Google-verified access — you inherit it.

STEP 01 · 2 MIN

Connect your inbox

Add Sortd to Gmail — one click from the Workspace Marketplace. Shared inboxes like support@ and orders@ connect the same way.

STEP 02 · 5 MIN

Shape your workflow

Pick board columns for your process, add custom fields, set SLA rules. Your team keeps working in Gmail the whole time.

STEP 03 · 3 MIN

Hand your agent a key

Create a scoped API key, point Claude / Cursor / your stack at the MCP server, and it starts working the board — drafts only, until you grant more.

quickstart · guides · API reference · llms.txt — paste it into your agent and it knows the whole API
[ WHERE TEAMS RUN IT ]

Every shared inbox is an agent workflow waiting to happen.

support@
Agent triages, classifies urgency & sentiment, drafts replies from policy fields
Humans approve sends, take escalations, own the SLA
orders@
Agent extracts order details into custom fields, moves cards through fulfilment stages
Humans handle exceptions, confirm changes, approve refunds
sales@
Agent qualifies leads, enriches CRM records, drafts follow-ups on deal deadlines
Humans run the relationship and close
accounts@
Agent matches invoices, chases overdue payments on a schedule, logs every touch
Humans approve write-offs and anything unusual

THE SECOND INTERFACE

REST endpoints and a full MCP server for threads, tasks, boards, fields and CRM. Your agents work the same workspace your team does.

[ THE ADOPTION ARGUMENT ]

The best agent platform is the one your team actually uses.

Most work starts and ends in email. Every agent tool that asks your team to move to a new app dies in week three — the tab gets closed, the agent goes unsupervised, the pilot fails.

Sortd's interface is inside Gmail — the tab that's already open, on desktop and mobile. Supervising an agent is the same motion as reading email. Zero migration, zero retraining, zero "please check the other tool". That's why the human-approval loop actually happens.

✕ NEW-APP AGENT TOOLS
New login → new tab → forgotten tab → unsupervised agent → trust collapses.
✕ HEADLESS AGENT APIS
No supervision surface at all — you build the approval UI, the audit UI, the assignment model yourself.
✓ SORTD
Approval, assignment and audit live where your team already lives: Gmail. The loop closes because nobody had to go anywhere.

Positioning as published, July 2026. Agent-first infra is excellent for programmatically provisioned inboxes; Sortd is for agents working alongside teams in existing Google Workspace inboxes.
[ FAQ ]

Frequently asked questions.

Not unless you explicitly allow it. drafts.write is the default scope: agents prepare replies, your team approves them. Auto-reply is a permission you grant per workflow, with hard throttles and daily caps underneath.
Exceptions route to a human on the board — assigned, visible, time-stamped. Circuit breakers freeze an agent that loops or over-acts. Every action is in the audit trail.
No. Sortd for Agents works on the Google Workspace accounts and shared inboxes you already operate — support@, orders@, accounts@ — with Google-verified access.
Agent email infrastructure gives agents their own inboxes with no humans involved. Sortd is the opposite lane: agents operating alongside your team, inside your existing inboxes, under supervision.
AI is included in the seat. Agent Operations includes ~1,000 agent actions per workspace per month; beyond that, $20 packs per 1,000 actions. No per-resolution charges, no credit meters.
The workspace, shared inboxes, REST API and MCP access are live (docs.sortd.com). Shared-inbox agent automation is in Early Access with design partners — every capability is labelled: available now, beta, or planned.
